1) Getting there: Flying from Malaysia

Getting to Bandung is relatively effortless, as many airlines offer direct flights there from Malaysia. We plan to leave Malaysia on the 4th January, then plan to return on the 7th January. The most cost efficient airline that we can get is:

Malindo Air: Departure flight at Economy Flexi price is MYR 249.90

Return flight at Economy Promo price is MYR 179.00

Clean and tastefully decorated, all rooms are equipped with modern facilities and friendly staff ready to serve you. We get quite a good deal as each of us will only pay MYR 157.40 for 3 nights stay inclusive of breakfast!

The Neighborhood

The guest house is located in residential area but in the city center. Just few minutes walk to Burangrang street which is a hawker food paradise for the locals. In front of their place they have a family hair saloon and spa which is pretty cheap and decent. The mini mart is just 2 minutes walk.

Getting Around

Angkot which is the main public transport in Bandung is easily found in the main street which is just 1 minute walk. Taxi is safer and better option.

3) Things to do: Shop, Play & Explore

Four days is not all that sufficient to truly experience the whole of Bandung, but here are a few things we will definitely have to try.

Play: Trans Studio

TRANS STUDIO BANDUNG is the second indoor theme park in Indonesia after Makassar. Trans Studio also features the Yamaha Racing Coaster, one of Asia’s fastest coasters at 120km/h.

Rumah Mode is one of the popular factory outlets located on Jalan Setiabudi. The place is very nicely decorated with excellent landscaping built and what is more attracting is there are many cheaper price for branded clothes like Hugo Boss, Zara and Polo. It is situated at Jl. Dr. Setiabudhi, Kota Bandung and estimated around 20 minutes to reach there. Opening hour is from 9:00am to 11:00pm.

Explore: the mountains and the lakes

Bandung is situated in between volcanic mountains and elevated grounds, so it is not surprising that it has many beautiful natural attractions.

A cliff of north of Bandung has recently become a popular destination for its magnificent view. Tebing Keraton is located at Kampung Ciharegem Puncak, Desa Wisata Ciburial, in the Cimenyan district which is approximately one hour away from De' Tropis Family Guest House.

A surreal beauty radiates from an enchanting crater lake known as Kawah Putih or literary translated means the White Crafter. Kawah Putih is open to the public daily from 07.00 to 17.00 West Indonesia time. The facilities available are adequate with a parking lot, transportation, information center and food stalls. The entry ticket for international tourists like us is IDR30,000 same as MYR 9.21. It is located at Jl. Raya Soreang, Ciwidey, Bandung and just around 10 - 15 minutes drive from our accommodation.

4) Where to eat:

After all that exploring and shopping, what comes to mind next? Eating is the most important thing to do when we are in a foreign country. Bandung has no lack of great restaurants and cafes that serve a wide array of food.

Braga Permai pays homage to its Indonesian and Dutch roots, as seen from its interior decor and old kitchen. This quaint restaurant is a favourite with both locals and foreigners. It has a good price quality ratio and a broad selection of Indonesian and European style dishes. Try crispy duck noodle, angel hair pasta, t-bone steak and nasi goreng.

Hummingbird Eatery situated in Jalan Progo, the popular area for cosy hangouts and good food. We are expecting to indulge in their specialties such as corn beef hash, Eggs Society and so on. To wrap up the perfect meal, look no further than rainbow cake and a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice.

In Vanilla Kitchen & Wine, there are sofa beds at the restaurant terrace so we can literally have brunch in bed. Begin with crispy mushroom as our starters, followed by local delights such as grilled oxtail and chicken balti. We do not want to miss out on the signature apple crumble as well!
